We understand that whilst it is an exciting time, it can also be very daunting trying to find the right carer for your child. That’s where we come in! My assistant's and I work alongside our Little Explorer's and their families to ensure the transition is a positive experience. We believe it is fundamental to give children a wide range of opportunities and work hard to encourage learning and development in a safe, consistent, caring, fun and loving environment. We understand that creating a bond with your child, and providing an outstanding provision of care is key.

Getting to know us
Name: Gemma Roberts-Dyer (Pictured Right)
Role: Leading Practitioner & Owner of Little Explorers Childminding. Previously Lead Childminder for Taunton, Somerset.
Since studying my NVQ eight years ago I have spent the majority of my working life in childcare. I firstly began working in a Nursery where I trained as a Nursery Nurse Assistant and qualified with a Level 2 NVQ in Early Child Development. I then went onto Nanny for a family in their own home. After 4 years I decided it was time to have my own family and in 2012 I had a little boy called Charlie. I wanted to continue with my career and in 2013 Little Explorers was born! Since opening we have quickly become well established amongst families and other Early Years Settings. In 2014 I built up a team of caring, competent, passionate staff and Little Explorers expanded! I went on to complete my Level 3 in Children's Care and The Workforce in 2015 and In 2017 I had another little boy called Jack who very quickly settled into Little Explorer life!
The children I've cared for over the years have had a range of individual needs which has given me opportunities to grow and develop my practise. I like to think creatively and adventurously and search for new ways to make a positive difference. My aim is to provide an excellent service for every child and their family, making a positive difference to their lives and most importantly for us all to have fun whilst doing so! I regularly attend training courses to continue my professional development ensuring that I have the most up to date knowledge and understanding of children's learning in order that the children in my care are given the best opportunities for great outcomes, putting them in good stead ready for school and the rest of their lives.

All of our staff are given a wealth of training and support to help further support their learning and continual professional development. Our goal at Little Explorers is to ensure that all staff work together as a team and together become outstanding Early Years Practitioners.

WHAT MAKES US A TEAM
We work hard to make parents and carers feel welcome and to involve you as partners in your child’s development.
We recognise that parents and carers have the best knowledge of the child and we treat them as ‘part of the team’.
We use a variety of ways to communicate with parents and carers. These include daily diaries of significant events for your children; Tapestry to track your children's progress; regular newsletters and parents evenings.
We are open and receptive to parents and carers suggestions for improvement.
We regularly review what we do and look at areas of weakness and learn from mistakes.
We understand that liaison with parents and carers is crucial.
We support parents and carers who are worried.
We regularly obtain information about the child and the family, so we understand the child’s needs and interests in the context of the family background.
We help parents achieve the best for their children.
We feel it a privilege that parents trust us with their children.
